Salt, moisture and light are treated not as forces that wear down a surface, but as conditions through which it takes on colour. Organisms settle where the geometry allows water to linger, producing a surface that is grown rather than applied and revised through every cycle of wetting and drying. Each visible state records the weather that preceded it, setting permanence aside as a measure of value.

The human body is not a single organism, but an ecosystem shared with trillions of microorganisms. Through bio-dyeing and biological printing, bacteria carried by the body stain, spread and shape the colour and surface of the work. By giving microbial life an active role in its making, Bactereature reconsiders authorship as a collaboration between human intention and biological growth.

Folding and cutting are treated as forms of structural reasoning rather than decoration, tested against the demands of a body moving on stage. Traditional geometries are recalculated as load-bearing structures that open and close with the wearer’s movements. The work asks what remains of a heritage technique once it is placed in the hands of computational tools.

The world is not one world. Fungi that break down wood so that a forest can begin again become agents of a cycle in which growth and decay are phases of a single movement. The resulting forms grow out of this behaviour rather than being drawn in advance, belonging to a world already unfolding alongside our own.

Gestation is conventionally located within a single body. Anatomies borrowed from species that carry their offspring differently open this convention to other possibilities: where a gestational organ might be situated, how the work of carrying could be distributed, and which roles might no longer remain fixed. Presented in a measured rather than speculative register, these possibilities remain questions rather than proposals.

An animal understood entirely as a source of materials ceases, at some point, to be an animal—though precisely when remains unclear. A breeding facility accepts custom orders, assembling what it delivers according to each customer’s requirements and presenting the results through the language of a catalogue. Each modification appears reasonable on its own; only through their accumulation does the underlying anthropocentrism become visible.
